Sign Language- This is Me!
Although Covid-19 has stopped us from being able to sing in school, we have still been able to enjoy music in other ways. We decided to learn a whole song in sign language and perform it to the rest of the school on our brand-new outdoor stage!
Literacy
So far this term we have learnt how to:
- Write a fact file on a place and person
- Write a biography
- Label diagrams
- Write letters
Numeracy
In numeracy we have been focussing on our number skills! So far we have covered:
- Adding 3 digit numbers
- Bonds to 10 and 20
- Addition and Subtraction within 20
- Multiplication (3 times tables)
Context
Our first topic was focussed around wellbeing and was called 'This is Me'. Within this time we focussed on improving our self-confidence, self-esteem and mental health. We completed many different activities based around the film inside out!
This included:
- Designing and describing our own inside out characters
- Creating an inside out control panel
- Practising Mindfulness
- Creating our own 'calming down kit'
Globetrotting
Our first topic this term is Globetrotting. We will be reading the story 'The Fantastic Flying Journey' which involves a family of young children travelling the world in a hot air balloon. We will focus on each continent that they travel to immersing ourselves in the different cultures, religions and ways of life.

Upbeat
In our Upbeat music lessons we have been learning about African drumming! We have focussed on rhythm and beat we learnt a pattern called the ‘Cucu’.
