Key Stage 2

Welcome to Key Stage 2 PPA

Croeso i'r KS2!

PPA Teacher: Mr Nicholas

The children will arrive each morning and will complete our Early Morning Activity (EMA).

Each afternoon we will be doing our  ‘Fun Fitness & well being.’

The children will get fit and feel good in a fun and enjoyable way!

The children will be keeping up with the latest Newsround daily, where we will be discussing the current events around the globe. This is an excellent opportunity for the children to understand and share their thoughts on what is going on. This is a child-friendly look at the latest news.

Throughout the up and coming school year, the children will be learning how to be: Ambitious, Capable Learners; Enterprising, Creative Contributors; Ethical, Informed Citizens; and Healthy, Confident Individuals. More information can be found by scanning the QR code here:

Year 3/4 - DCF

During Autumn term 1, LKS2, we have been working hard and learning how to improve our typing skills - using our DCF skills. Throughout the first term, we will be learning how to log in to our digital accounts, such as HWB, Big Maths and Active Learn. We will also be covering such skills as Citizenship, Interacting and Collaborating, Producing and Data and Computational Thinking!

We have taken part in activities that enhance our typing capabilities and digital technology-based skills. As a follow on to our typing, we have been discussing the pros and cons of email over the other method of letter writing. We have been using our new skills to email a leading supermarket to ask them about their palm oil policy; this is a direct link to our topic: What a Wonderful World. We await their replies!

Year 3/4 - Comprehension

During Autumn term 1, we will be focusing on our comprehension skills. We will use our topicWhat a

Wonderful World for our texts resources and will be practising our following skills:

  • Summarising.
  • Sequencing.
  • Inferencing.
  • Comparing and contrasting.
  • Concluding.
  • Self-questioning.
  • Problem-solving.

Year 3/4 - Big Maths

Throughout Autumn term 1, we will be helping the Big Maths characters with their missions whilst improving our maths skills. Here are the welcome messages from the Big Maths team!

Count Fourways is an intergalactic traveller!

Hello Earthlings, my name is Count Fourways. The ‘four ways’ are counting in 1s, 2s, 5s and 25s. Since our children simply learn to count out loud in four crucial ways. Each of these four ways is built upon progressively and in alignment with the children’s developing understanding of place value. I am here to help!

Pim is an alien from the planet CLIC.

My name is Pim; I have 3 arms on one side and 4 arms on the other side. I have 7 arms in total. I also have 3 legs and 4 legs, so I must have 7 legs. I have 3 ears and 4 ears, 3 nostrils and 4 nostrils, and I have 3 eyes and 4 eyes. So, as soon as children know ‘3 add 4 equals 7’, I can easily help them to realise that this applies to all ‘things’. In other words, 3 things and 4 things are 7 things.

Squiggleworth is Pim’s Pet!

My name is Squiggleworth and I am Pim’s pet, I can be used to help children have fun while they practice partitioning numbers.

Pom is an alien, he lives with Pim on the planet CLIC.

My name is Pom, I help children to learn 4 key mathematical words: multiple, factor, square and prime. With my help, these words can be learnt easily. I provide a fun framework for the presentation. Put the product (answer) number in my tummy, then the factors can be recorded on the end of my body parts.

Mully Multiple

Hello all, my name is ‘Mully Multiple’! I am known as Mully for short. I like to explore and to hide. I like to hide behind the biggest multiple of a number that I can find.

Year 5/6 - DCF

During Autumn term 1, UKS2 we have been working hard and learning how to improve our typing skills - using our DCF skills. Throughout the first term, we will be learning how to log in to our digital accounts such as HWB, Big Maths and Active Learn.

We have been using our new skills to email NASA to discuss the questions that we have about The Moon, this is a direct link to our topic: To Infinity and Beyond! Maybe we will get an invite to the next Moon landing!
