General Information
FRUIT (Ffrwyth)
Every morning, the children may buy a healthy snack for 20p or £1 for the week. The Year 6 children wash and sell the fruit and count our earnings. We use any profit to buy some special extras for the children in their lessons.
WATER BOTTLES (Poteli Dwr)
We are trying to reduce the number of bottles we throw away so are
encouraging the children to bring a water bottle to school or buy a Greenway one for £1.50, available from the school office. They may fill it at the fresh water fountain. They can keep this in class and re hydrate throughout the day.
PE (Ymarfer Corff)
Thursday and Friday (Dydd Iau a Dydd Mercher)
We will have PE on a Thursday and Friday afternoon. We will either be indoors or outdoors depending on the weather. Can children please wear shorts, t-shirt and bring trainers or other suitable shoes.
During the colder months, can children please bring warmer clothes (joggers/jumper) for when we go outside.
SPELLINGS AND HOME READING (Sillafu a Darllen)
Reading- Learners will get to choose a reading book from the school library and take it home to read on a Monday. If they finish their reading book in the week they can bring it back in on Friday to choose a new book.
Spellings- Learners will also take home spellings on a Monday. The will often be High Frequency words or words linked to our context and learning. Please help your child learn their spellings.
Spring Term 2025- Exploration and Discovery
This term we will be looking at Exploration and Discovery. We will be discovering who the Egyptians were and what they discovered, the life of a Pirate and their explorations, famous explorers and the countries they discovered as well as the ultimate explorer- Neil Armstrong. We will also get the opportunity to explore our own environment by discovering what minibeasts and animals we have in our school surrondings. It promises to be an exciting term!
Autumn Term- Globe Trotting
This term we will be travelling all over the world in our topic of "Globe Trotting". We will be learning about the continents, oceans, different languages and comparing different countries to Wales.
Pupil Voice will lead the learning and the children have already come up with some exciting ideas about what they want to learn and experience!

We looked at the continent of Africa and sorted pictures of different places into Physical and Human Features. We were brilliant a working as a group!
In literacy we have been looking at the story of the world's most famous bear- Paddington!
We did a character description about him as part of our Hot Write and wrote instructions on how to make a Marmalade Sandwich. The children did a great job of making the sandwiches, writing the instructions and tasting them. It is fair to say the children don't like Marmalade sandwiches as much as Paddington does!

Trip to Technioquest
We had a fantastic time at Techniquest exploring all the wonderful way things work!
We had a lovely walk around Cardiff Bay and looked at famous landmarks which made us very proud to be welsh!
Recipe HOT WRITE!
We ordered fruits from around the world, we couldn't believe where all our fruit had come from. We ordered asda delivery to out school. It is important to keep passwords private when ordering online!
We made our fruit kebabs and then wrote up the recipe in our HOT WRITE!
St Fagans
We learnt all about the welsh xmas traditions in the TED THE BEAR WORKSHOP!
We loved exploring St Fagans, what a beautiful place!

Calculation Station - building a pyramid, using times tables to make the different layers.
Creation Station - landmark sunsets.
Investigation Station - Using beebots to create different algorithms, travelling from one landmark to the other.
Communication Station - Using VR goggles to describe famous landmarks.

Year 3 are having their fortnightly Welsh Guided Group Reading lesson. They read very well.
Our Spring Topic - Ancient Times
We loved making our own Victorian Toy and comparing them with more modern toys
We have been learning about the properties of 3D shapes, we used our knowledge to create different 3D based pyramids, using clay and sticks.
We really enjoyed having 'Shape my street project' working with us and we look forward to the work we will be doing with them in the future. We loved learning about the role of an architect.
We have loved learning about the Ancient Times. We really enjoyed making our own Mosaics. We were very creative learners :)

Our Summer Topic - Bright Sparks Pupil Voice
We used the imovie app to recreate one of our favourite welsh books as an ebook!
Some of us went to interview local shop keepers to get their view on the litter in our local area!

Pa un yw'r cryfaf? We have been learning about forces in year 3, we also looked at a variety of magnets and investigated the strength of each one using paper clips. We made a table and a bar graph to show our findings and results.
