    Thu 25 Jun 2020

Please click the 'children' tab and then click the 'Gallery' to find the short film.

We look forward to seeing you next week and for 1 day a week for 3 weeks at the Minister has requested.

Some children have 2 days each week for a variety of reasons. The reasons were requested from Cardiff Council, Welsh Government and other agencies within Cardiff. we would have loved to have seen everyone for 2 days each week, but space and time did not allow.

Hopefully this will change in September.

We are offering more time than many of our local schools.

  • School Opening update

    Sat 13 Jun 2020

Before we update you on our plans can we firstly thank you for your time and energy during this difficult period. We know that everyone has been under different levels of stress and that some may have lost family and friends to Covid-19. We of course send you our sincere thoughts and wishes.

You may be wondering whether to send your child back to school or not. You are not alone and whatever you decide will be right for you and your family. We will still support you to the best of our ability either way. School will only open when we know it is safe for us and therefore safe for you and your children.

We intend to open from the 29th June to some children and will be in touch by Wednesday 24th June to confirm which days your child can attend. School will look different and the way in to school will change with a queuing system (as at supermarkets) to the drop off area. We are looking at full days (if we are allowed to bring in nursery then all children will move to mornings only) with your child bringing a packed lunch and daytime snack on their set day. Families are being kept to the same day. school will start at 8:30am and finish at 2:45pm. There will be no more than 10 children in a class with 2 or 3 adults. Most classes will be less than 8 children per day. They will have their own desk and chair with their own learning resources and will be set away from the other children in class. They will wash their hands often and will be kept 2 metres apart, even when outside. They will bring home learning packs with paper based and digital based learning to do whilst not in school and bring these back on the following week. If you have borrowed a chromebook, you can bring this with you to help learning.

Our school is almost ready to open thanks to the hard work of school staff - cleaners, office staff, teaching assistants, caretakers, teachers and governors. We just need Cardiff Council to provide the cleaning and hygiene equipment.

When we know that we can definitely open we will be in touch with you and will post a more detailed plan for you to see how we are keeping you safe whilst trying to catch up with you and your family who we have missed very much.

Take care and please encourage all parents to access this information- spread the word!

    See you soon hopefully,

    Nic Naish

  • June 29th School Opening

    Thu 04 Jun 2020 N Naish

Cardiff Council will offer further details about supporting us to open the school on June 29th 2020 in the coming days.

Next week will see the final paper based work packs ready for collection on Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th between 9am and 11:45am.

We will contact you on the 15th or 16th June to let you know what times and days your child will be able to attend school from the 29th June. We will make sure families are placed on the same days. If you do not get a call over these days, please call the school on the 17th or 18th June as there may be issues with incorrect numbers or contact details.

Our plans are safe and clear and we will support your children and you through the new systems.

We hope you are keeping well and look forward to seeing you all very soon.

  • Free courses to support family relationships whilst we continue to be in lockdown

    Mon 01 Jun 2020

Read below information about Public Health Wales free courses to support family relationships.

    Dear Parent,

Public Health Wales and health board colleagues have been working hard to support parents during this Coronavirus pandemic. You now have the opportunity to access free online, bilingual courses that cover:

      1. Understanding Pregnancy, Labour, Birth and your Baby – online course for everyone around the baby (Mums, Dads, Grandparents, friends and relations).  Written by Registered Midwives and NHS Professionals
      2. Understanding your Baby – Online course for everyone around the baby, supporting you and the new arrival.  Written by Psychologists, Psychotherapists and Health Visitors
      3. Understanding your Child – Popular online course about being the best parent, grandparent or carer.  Award winning with trusted content
      4. Understanding your Teenagers Brain (short course) – explaining what happens to the brain in adolescence and how this explains some of the changes you may have noticed about their behaviour

These online courses provide users with information on the developmental and emotional milestones for understanding their child in a fun, safe and informative way and are based on the evidence-based Solihull approach that many health professionals use.

Following the successful launch across North Wales, these resources are now free and becoming available bilingually for everyone in Wales who cares for children aged 0-18 years. They can help to parents, grandparents and carers recognise emotions in themselves and their child and see how they can affect behaviour. The courses have already helped many parents and carers increase their confidence in their parenting skills and resulted in calmer and happier households for everyone.

To access the courses, click on this link www.inourplace.co.uk and put in the code NWSOL if you live in North Wales, and SWSOL if you live in South Wales to create your account and get your free access to the course of your choice.

The Solihull Approach courses are evidence based and accredited by the Department for Education (DfE) and aim to improve emotional health and wellbeing by supporting relationships (www.solihullapproachparenting.com).

We hope you find them helpful, particularly during these challenging times.
