Welsh Government have announced that all schools in Wales will now close. Therefore, Thursday 19th March 2020 will be the final day of school for this term.
The school will remain closed from Friday 20th March 2020 and will currently plan to re-open on Monday 20th April 2020. However the school will continue to follow any further advice issued by Welsh Government and Public Health Wales. Please follow local news and the school website for any further changes.

Coronavirus update - 16th March
Mon 16 Mar 2020Dear Parent/Carer
In light of the current concern with Covid-19 and in addition to my letter sent home on Friday 13th March, we have decided to cancel after school clubs until further notice. This action will assist our cleaners in having the school cleared quicker so that they can ensure the school maintains the highest standards of cleanliness.
We are also preparing our school website to have additional links to learning that your children could access at home should you wish them to- please visit the websites for your school to find out more:
https://www.greenwayprimary.com/
There will be links to online maths and online reading resources to support learning, not just for use at this challenging time, but through their primary school learning journey. Please make use of these free resources.
Should you not be able to access digital resources at home and be unable to send your child to school, then over the coming week we will be preparing some paper based learning packs that we will arrange to have ready for collection. We will arrange these packs on an individual basis.
Thank you for your understanding.

Coronavirus newsletter - 13th March
Mon 16 Mar 202013 March 2020
Dear Parents/Carers
In light of the growing concerns and media coverage with regard to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the school would like to reassure you that we continue to receive regular updates from Cardiff Council. The Council is closely monitoring guidance from Welsh Government / NHS Wales and we will keep you updated with any developments, especially those related to schools. The school will remain open until we are directed otherwise.
Messages being shared in school include pupils, staff and visitors washing their hands:
· Before leaving home
· On arrival at school
· After using the toilet
· After breaks and sporting activities
· Before food preparation
· Before eating any food, including snacks
· Before leaving school
To further reassure you, our school is cleaned thoroughly and we have excellent supplies of soap, tissues and cleaning products to ensure the school can meet the required hygiene standards.
Further information can be found on the following sites:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-action-plan
To further support our cleaning team in meeting their high standards, we are seeking to avoid unnecessary disruption to their working schedule and therefore in consultation with the Chair of Governors for the school, I have taken the decision to review non-essential school events to limit risk to the school community including those who may be more vulnerable. Although such events are an integral part of the school calendar, I feel that it is sensible to postpone them until further notice. I’m sure you will support the school under the circumstances. The events that are postponed at present are:
· Open nights 17th and 18th March
· Easter Bonnet parades
· Class assemblies
We will continue to review all school activities in light of current advice and update you accordingly.
Please use the school website to obtain regular updates and ensure that we have your most up to date contact details in school so that contact with you can be made more easily.
With thanks for your understanding and support.
