  • Spring Term

“Music, Magic, and Make‑Believe” has filled our Spring 1 half term with imagination, creativity, and lots of story‑based fun.
We explored a range of well‑loved traditional tales, including Jack and the Beanstalk, The Gingerbread Man, Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and The Three Little Pigs. The children really enjoyed listening to each story and following along using symbolised text, which helped everyone to join in, recognise key parts, and develop familiarity with the stories.

We added actions and movement into our storytelling, allowing the children to take part physically as well as verbally. This helped bring the stories to life and supported communication, anticipation, and engagement. Our sound buttons were another favourite—filled with noises, phrases, and sound effects from each story, they offered exciting sensory moments and encouraged lots of exploration and interaction.

Throughout the topic, we also took part in a wide variety of creative activities, including themed crafts and plenty of playdough fun. These hands‑on experiences gave the children opportunities to build their fine motor skills, express their ideas, and revisit the stories in playful, imaginative ways.
