Autumn 1- Me, Myself and I
"Me, Myself and I" is designed to support learners in exploring their identity and relationships. Through a variety of engaging activities—ranging from play-based and sensory experiences to focused tasks—learners will delve into aspects of self-awareness, family connections, personal appearance, and emotions. These activities foster essential skills, enabling learners to express preferences, make choices, and develop a deeper understanding of both their own emotions and those of others, all within a safe and nurturing environment.

Outdoor learning, music, and physical activities will enhance their comprehension of the world around them and their unique place within it. Additionally, cooking will be incorporated to help develop life skills and promote an understanding of how healthy food contributes to physical health and overall wellbeing.

To provide structure, consistency, and meaningful learning experiences, each day at Little Oaks follows a special theme. These themes guide the main activity of the day and offer learners opportunities to develop a wide range of skills, including communication, numeracy, language, interaction, and essential life skills.

    🌟 Make-it Monday
Mondays are all about creative expression. Children will take part in art and craft activities linked to the current half-term theme. This encourages imagination, fine motor skills, and the joy of making.

    🎯 Target Tuesday
On Tuesdays, children engage in activities that support the individual targets in their Individual Development Plans (IDPs). These tasks are carefully designed to help each learner progress and are recorded in their personal target booklets.

    🚶 Walking Wednesday
Whatever the weather, learners will enjoy a walk—either within the school grounds or out in the local community. Walking Wednesdays support physical health, expressive language, social interaction, and general wellbeing.

    🎶 Toe-Tapping Thursday
Music takes centre stage on Thursdays. Learners explore rhythm, instruments, singing, and body percussion. These sessions help build listening, coordination, and self-expression through sound and movement.

    🍽️ Foodie Friday
Fridays are for food fun! Children will have the opportunity to prepare and taste simple recipes using the classroom kitchen. These experiences foster independence, sensory exploration, and discussion about where food comes from and how it grows.
