Tymor Yr Hydref/Autumn Term
2014


    This term we shall be learning all about
World War 11 and Peacetime 
     We shall be studying:
  • Countries involved in the war.
  • Our involvement in the war and it's effect on local communities.
  • Evacuation
  • The Blitz
  • Rationing
  • The end of the war and 'peace at last.'

 We shall be incorporating the Literacy and Numeracy framework into our lessons.
   Reading is something our class value very highly as we know how important it is in everything- and, of course we love it! We've added lots of new books to our book corner. Mrs Anderson is encouraging us to read newspapers and articles during our reading time. There is also lots of choice of fictional books in both Welsh and English in our book corner where we like to chill.
Andy Cope spent a lot of time with us last term on how to brilliant. We will be reading one of his Spy Dogs books in class each day.
Writing is our focus this term. We will be trying out all sorts of writing and share them with our friends and teachers.We will use VCOP to improve our writing-Vivid Vocabulary,Cool Connectives, Outstanding Openers and Perfect Punctuation. We think it will be great fun!

Our fruit Tuck Shop will continue this term.
      
We will be practising talking and reading in Welsh-A group of us will be encouraging everyone to speak Welsh in and around the school.
Important phrases for us to use are: Wyt ti'n barod? ...gwrando? ...mynd?...gweithio?... deall?
                                                     Are you ready?...listening? ...going? ...working? ...understanding?

Monday 1st-School Starts
Wednesday 3rd -Visit to Rumney Library to choose our first book of the new term.
Monday 22nd-Wednesday 24th-Year 4 & 5 visit to St Madoc's in West Wales. We can't wait to get onto the beach and play some silly games, oh, and we are very excited about doing...
Zumba with Mrs Anderson and Mrs Donnelly

                                              

Monday 29th-Mrs Anderson, Mrs Lavington and Mr Naish visit to Ferrol in Spain to see how their schools compare to ours. We hope to bring back lots of good ideas.

Wednesday 22nd-Fancy Dress Disco.
Tuesday 11th-Parent's Open Evening
Friday 14th-Children in Need.

Wednesday 5th- Class Assembly-all invited

Friday 5th-Christmas fair.
Monday 15th-Christmas Concert
Thursday 18th-Christmas Pantomime at the Riverfront Theatre in Newport.
Friday 19th-Break up.
 

Phew! That looks like another busy half term and we are all looking forward to it very much!
Our class target this half term is to listen and follow instructions first time

 
                                                            
PE will be every Monday afternoon. Please remember your kit suitable for outdoors.
